Raising Robots Game Insert

This box insert is for the DELUXE version of Raising Robots, including the Pets expansion. It's designed to support what I call “gentle vertical storage”… in other words, the design and the lids should keep things in place when storing vertically, but if you shake it or flip it upside down, you'll probably end up with a mess.

Notes:

• Supports the card sleeves that came included in the Deluxe version.
• Supports vertical storage. If you do NOT plan to ever store the game vertically, you can SKIP printing the player lids and card lids.
• The player bins in the photos show holes for 4mm x 2mm magnets for the lids. After printing, I discovered the magnets are not needed -- the lids stay on fine without them. So, the uploaded player bin & lid STLs are slightly redesigned to not use magnets.
• The card trays are open in the front. This makes it much easier to draw Robot cards, which happens a LOT in the game, vs. a closed tray where you need to lift each card out vertically. To make vertical storage more reliable, I've added a slot-in cover for the cards to hold them in place. The slot in the card trays is 2mm wide, and the card lid is 1.6mm thick, so it should fit fine if your printer is calibrated well. If the lid doesn't fit, you can print it with the Y axis scaled down a few percent.
• The “Miscellaneous” tray holds all the inventor pieces, energy cubes, and round tracker. It should be pretty obvious where each piece fits in. This STL will take a long time to print compared to the others.

Printing tips:

• I printed everything with a 0.4mm nozzle at either 0.3mm or 0.25mm layer height. I suspect a 0.6mm nozzle will work fine (and will result in 2 perimeters for the player bin – see below).
• The player bin walls are only 1.15mm thick, in order to fit six player bins across the side of the box. This should result in exactly three perimeters (if using a 0.4mm nozzle). If you're seeing more/less, try using the Arachne perimeter option in your slicer to dynamically adapt the perimeter width.
• Tolerances are pretty loose everywhere. Even if your printer isn't well tuned, everything should still fit just fine. I hate trying to slide a token or cards into a slot that's a “perfect” fit, so everything should have at least couple mm of wiggle room.
