Designer's Description
Terraforming Mars - All In One Insert Set

I decided to create this remix after a very long journey which started when my friend asked me to print him some inserts to Terraforming Mars.

We spent considerable amount of time going back an fourth choosing models that would work for him, and later I had to spend additional time preparing them to print.

Some decisions had to be made about magnets size, print orientation, number of copies, pause heights…
Some models could be printed using AMS instead of gluing the colour inserts in.

This is the end result of this journey- a click and print solution for all of the problems above:

  • Common size of magnets chosen- you will need 72 magnets- all of them 6x3mm
  • Where it was possible I tried to use AMS capabilities- the player boxes couldn't be printed in a good orientation for the magnets and AMS so I decided to stick to glue in inserts for them.
  • The pauses for inserting the magnets should be added in the profile- make sure to be ready and to keep the orientation consistent:
  • For the lids keep one polarity and for the bottom parts keep the other. ← this is harder than it souds, so I recommend marking one side of the stack of magnets with piece of tape- this helped me a lot.
  • All the items are already copied and arranged in correct numbers and colours.
  • The only exception is the last plate which you need to print 6 times.
  • If you have a cool effects plate, I got you covered- where it was possible I oriented the models face-down
  • e.g. diamond pattern on the picture below:
