Railroad Ink Board Game Insert

A fully 3D-printable insert for the Railroad Ink board game box, able to contain an entire game with all of its pieces, and room for 6 sets of dice (1 base set, 1 box-specific set, and 4 expansions).

This insert differs from other versions in that each expansion is contained in its own small box within the insert. The files include lid designs for each possible edition and expansion, which allows you to print boxes for specific expansions you own, which makes it easier to mix and match what expansions you take with you and makes for a more fun and aesthetically pleasing design. Each lid also has a small point on its bottom face which allows you to more easily pull it out of the box without much hassle (I learned this lesson the hard way!)

The top section of the board does nothing more than padding out the box to ensure that the insert doesn't shift around inside the box, but you can potentially fit another marker or two in there or some other small accessory. Unfortunately the rule booklets do not fit in there as they are simply too tall, but there is potential for other uses for that area.

I would recommend using a 0.4mm nozzle for printing especially for the dice boxes as they are incredibly thin at just 0.8mm thick at certain areas, and so a 0.6mm nozzle may struggle to achieve sufficient strength with just single wall thicknesses.

None of the parts have any particularly challenging features so you should be able to print this with your standard settings, in my case I used PLA for everything and printed at 0.2mm layer heights, 20% infill, 60mm/s inner wall, 30mm/s outer.

You may need to test fit the lids onto the boxes a couple times to wear away the rail just a tad to attain a smooth slide when you open and close the boxes, shouldn't take more than a minute per box.
