Designer's Description

Update: Version 2 is available here

Health tracker for World of Wresting , the new sport sim from the designer of Techno Bowl (8.5 on BGG). Multiple cover options are available. Comes with blank mini cartridges that snap into the top of the controller to display your wrestler.

The tracker can be printed with a single AMS, but the left dial requires 5-6 colors so at least one filament change is needed mid print (pauses have been added). If you only have a single color printer and can go without the colors in the left dial, it should be possible to print. The numbers on the dials are raised, so you would need to add a pause before the numbers are printed to allow you to switch out the filament.

The max health/life value for the controller is 49 (40 is the max health for any wrestler). For those wanting a more traditional tracker that can be used for multiple games, I have a modified version in the works that will allow values up to 99.

Important

Any covers being printed face up should not be printed on a High Temp build plate as the holes will be too small. The covers should snap into the base. How well this works will vary depending on the printer, filament and build plate selected. For all components, printing in PLA on a textured plate with the specified orientations has worked for me. For the face down covers I prefer to print on smooth/high temp build plates (as mentioned, printing a cover face up on a high temp build plate won't work). This is mainly personal preference though.

I recommend experimenting with the covers to see what works best. If the holes are too small, you can try adding a negative object to make the hole larger. If too loose, it should be possible to glue.

The dials sometimes work well straight away, however most will be stiff initially. In all cases this will improve after repeated usage. The dials are designed to spin down (e.g. 9 to 0), so spinning up will be difficult initially. From my experience, the dials are able to be spun up over time with repeated usage.

The left dial has 5-6 colors so will require at least 1 manual filament change unless you have multiple AMS units. If you have no AMS unit, you could print both dials with a single color and switch out the filament for the numbers (You will need to manually add a pause for the right dial).

For the Left dial I have added 2 pauses in the print to allow the filament to be switched. The steps I used were as follows

Slot 1 - Grey (or whatever dial color you want)
Slot 2 - Green
Slot 3 - Orange
Slot 4 - Red

At the first pause, replace Slot 1 color with Yellow (you will need to manually cut the filament)

At the second pause, replace Yellow with Black or White (or whatever number color you want)

There are other options that avoid having to manually cut the filament and even avoid pauses (for example, you can set Slot 2 to Yellow but leave Slot 2 empty once printing has started), but my solution ended up working easiest for me.

The plates with multi-color items have purge blocks to make sure the yellow is clean when printing. The cubes can be used to create the pixel block wrestlers and are the same size as the techno bowl pixel blocks. The blocks have 70% infill as I find this gives a better weight to the cubes. If you don't need the cubes for the pixel blocks (or want to print separately) I would reduce the infill of the cubes to 15% to reduce the print time.
