This replaces where the score is stored in the original box. The large solo tiles and then the place to store the cards which can be sleeved. I use BG Stats for scoresheets so the scorepad didn't add value to me - I just tore a few to store at the top just in case someone else was playing my copy. I find in the gaps in the other containers there was plenty of room for the other expansion components. One spot for all of the adjusting values in multiplayer events and another for the few solo specific ones. The original designer could probably cut down the depth of the player or resource trays enough to store some score pads still without lift.
