Designer's Description

I saw there was another insert already made for Shadows Over Camelot, unfortunately, it wasn't quite what I'd prefer. Starting out on my own design, it was quite a challenge, as it was one of those games where the box is exceedingly bigger than the components. My goal was to limit waste (even with all the dead space) and these 3 goals:

  • No lid lift
  • Trays that are removable and/or can be stashed beside the board (or in this case, on the board)
  • Accommodate sleeves

This insert fits components from the base game, Merlin's Company (expansion), as well as a remixed Sword Holder ( https://www.printables.com/model/1887167-shadows-over-camelot-sword-holder-remixed ). I made it so you print 4 card trays, 2 for on the board and 2 for discard.

I did make a couple improvements after I printed mine. The join points are slightly longer, slightly widened the outer insert to fit box better, and made a gouge to make getting the Grail boards out easier (after I realized they were a pain to get out, lol).

Optional printables:

  • The card trays are slightly shorter than the white card stack (sleeved cards) due to avoiding lid lift. I made card extensions (you only need 1) if you want to use them, but after you deal out a few of the white cards, you wouldn't need them. So you can optionally print 2 small card trays (or 1 of each extension/tray) to hold the Green and Red Cards. Those trays/extensions sit under the Picts and Saxons tray.
  • You can print the spacer so the extra white cards (that don't fit the tray) don't get loose when you store the game. You could optionally mix those cards in other stacks.
  • Double card tray, if you'd rather print a joined pair for discard. If so, print 2 less card trays.

TLDR/Directions: I printed the box spacers with no bottom layers, 2 top layers at 5% infill. Print one of each. (Also, one of the trays, you'll want to use supports) Print one of each trays (non-card trays) Print 4 card trays Print 2 card tray extensions or 2 small card trays (or 1 of each)

I made a new insert that holds the base game and expansion with removable trays and no lid lift.
