Designer's Description

A set of leather or hide themed resource tokens designed primarily for board games, but with plenty of other uses as well.

I wanted these to look a bit more interesting than a generic resource token, while still being simple enough to print in larger quantities. The shape is inspired by a piece of leather or animal hide, with a raised edge and stitched detailing around the outside.

The tokens work particularly well for games where leather, hides or similar materials are used as resources. They can be used as replacements for cardboard or wooden resource pieces, or simply as an extra thematic touch for a game you already own.

Board Game Uses

These can work as resource tokens in a variety of board games, including games such as Hallertau, Fields of Arle, Frosthaven, Le Havre, Clans of Caledonia, and others where leather, hides or a similar resource is represented.

They can also be useful as generic resource markers when playing games that use different materials or resources. Since the tokens are fairly neutral in design, you can decide what they represent depending on the game you're playing.

Other Uses

Beyond board games, the leather/hide shape also makes them useful for miniature and tabletop projects. They could work as piles of hides in a butcher shop miniature, a tannery, medieval market stall or fantasy workshop. They could also be scattered around a D&D or tabletop RPG scene as crafting materials, loot, trade goods or general scenery.

For dioramas, miniature displays and roleplay setups, they can be used as small background details to make a workshop, shop, camp or medieval setting feel more lived in. They could also represent animal skins, leather supplies, crafting materials or trade goods depending on the scene.

The tokens are deliberately simple, so changing the filament colour can also change what they represent. Brown tones give them a fairly natural leather look, while different colours could be used to distinguish different resources or players.

Printing
  • 0.12 mm layer height
  • No supports required

The example shown was printed in a single brown colour, but these could also look great with a contrasting colour for the stitched border.
