Designer's Description

This is a fairly extensive remix of the excellent design by jaminv.

Biggest change is the removal of the grid from the boxes allowing for a more diverse array of bin sizes.

New Bin Feature

The bins I've modified and created don't include a label area but do include a diagonal finger lift to make getting bins out of the boxes easier as compared to the bins with no labels. They also retain the beveled bottom so the 1x1 and smaller size can be used in the original box design with a grid.

New Bin Sizes

I've added new bin sizes 1x1/3, 1x1/2, 1x2/3, 1x1-½, along with a 1x1-½ with offset divider, 1x2-½ with a centered divider and a 1x3-½ with two dividers (dividers are all fixed in place). Also included are the original 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 2x2, 2x3 and 3x3 sizes, but all with the finger lift tab. The addition of the small size bins allows you to get a lot of small parts into one box without wasting space.

New Empty Space Fillers

In addition to the new bin sizes and finger lift, I also created space fillers from 1x2 up to 1x6 for when you don't have enough parts to fill a box with bins but want to have free space for adding bins in the future. They keep you from needing to guess and print whatever size bins you think you might need later without using much filament, and they keep the existing bins from sliding around (the downside to not having the grid). Note that the space fillers have brims enabled as I experienced some lifting during printing before using them.

New Box Size

I also created a new 6x3 box size as that was the sweet spot for me to organize my machine screws and other small parts.

Updated Latch Geometry

Additionally, I redid some of the latch and catch geometry (except the 3x2 box) as I found it to be a little too loose and easy to open for my liking. I also closed the distance between the latch and latch support to prevent the slight sagging I was getting in my prints. (FYI - when you slice the lids there is an alert in Bambu studio about a floating part, which being fairly new to 3D printing confused me at first. Turns out the support is actually floating but the design works great so you can ignore the warning).

Included Files

The default 3mf model is of the 6x3 bin and latch. Keeping with the post for the original version, I've included zip files for each of the other individual box/lid sizes (step files) including Bambu 3mf files. There is also a zip file that includes all of the boxes and lids (step) without the built in support (the supports really do work great, not sure why you'd ever want to print without them). There's another zip with the step files and a 3mf for the three label sizes (blank, no text). Another zip file with all the step files and a 3mf for the bins, and a zip with the filler step files and a 3mf. (My reworking and new parts were done in OnShape, so the parametric part of the original models do not exist in my step files)

Notes About Printing

jaminv has some excellent notes about what filament works and what to avoid for the hinges and latch to not be problematic and I highly recommend you give it a read. In my experience I found that PETG HF was ideal for the boxes/lids, and I used PLA basic for the bins and labels.

Final Note Regarding Labels

Since I don't have an AMS, I created the text for my labels as negative space in OnShape using the Allerta Stencil font. I'm not sure what Bambu Studio has for options to do something similar, so let me know in the comments if want a label with specific text in the same style as in my pictures and I will provide it if I already have it, or try and create it for you.
