CONTACT: YOUR TOWN Sci-Fi Action Game was discontinued in 2003. The company ceased operations in 2004, and licensed publishing of SECOND SEASON Pro Football Game to REPLAY Games of Ohiopyle, PA. The company resumed operations in 2009, now based in suburban Denver, CO. Five titles were offered; FACE TO THE MAT, BOWL-O-RAMA, ROLLER RUMBLE and CRASH AND SCRAMBLE, along with a new title, DEMO DERBY SMASH-DOWN Demolition Derby Game. COLD SNAP Canadian Pro Football Game was introduced later in 2009. HOCKEY BLAST Pro Hockey Game was introduced in 2010. SECOND SEASON Pro Football Game returned to PLAAY Games in July of 2010, after five years of being published by REPLAY. As the years have passed, the company has continued to expand its line of sports simulation games. RED WHITE & BLUE RACIN' Stock Car Action Game was introduced in the spring of 2012. HISTORY MAKER Baseball Big League Baseball Game was released in the spring 2013, winning One-For-Five magazine's "Best New Sports Game" award. SOCCER BLAST Pro Soccer Game was released in 2014, again winning One-For-Five's "Best New Sports Game." After releasing the soccer game, the company turned its focus to upgrading some of its existing games. In late 2014, PLAAY introduced new hard-shell game boxes to replace the fold-up boxes that had been standard since the company's inception. SECOND SEASON Pro Football Game was re-vamped and offered in a new, streamlined format with several innovations designed to speed up game play. The components for HISTORY MAKER BASEBALL and HOCKEY BLAST were upgraded, including new, gloss-finished card-stock game books for both games. The company's latest title, HISTORY MAKER GOLF, was released in April 2017. Moving forward, the company seeks to fulfill its mission to both preserve and advance the grand pastime of sports simulation board games. In its February 2017 newsletter, the company's leader, Keith Avallone, expressed a desire to forge the "next generation" of sports simulation card/dice games. It's unclear at this time what form those games might take, or even which sports might be attempted. The company has also communicated that it has "traditional" basketball and horse racing sports simulation games in development. PLAAY Games strives to create a fun table-top sports experience for the gamer, with an emphasis on visual re-creation of the sport using descriptive text and unique game mechanics. The games are designed to be user-friendly, with plenty of opportunities for house rules and personal innovations. PLAAY Games goal is to allow sports gamers to invest themselves in their game, by creating a unique-to-them game experience. To this end, PLAAY offers fictional card sets for each of its games, and most titles provide instructions for enthusiasts to "rate their own" players and teams.
