Golden Bell Affiliated Projects and Companies In 2021, Golden Bell Entertainment LLC started their own crowdfunding site, The Growing Tree. Controversy: Kickstarter campaigns: The company was involved in nearly 50 Kickstarter projects between 2016 and 2018, leading to struggles with funding and management of so many projects at once. Circa 2020, the company was banned from Kickstarter. Delays: Long delays in shipping were common, especially for backers in Asia and Australia who sometimes had to wait years. Copies of Unbroken, funded in April 2018, did not reach backers until 2021, despite the game being available on retail store shelves since May 2019. Shipping: The estimated shipping costs of at least one project were significantly lower than the actual rates. To save money and minimize losses, Golden Bell tried to use Media Mail for U.S. fulfillment, a service that costs about half of what USPS normally charges but was not intended for games or mass commercial distribution. As a result, these packages were held and marked as having insufficient postage. Some backers had to pay the shipping themselves. PR: The company lacked a social media manager, instead letting various employees and executives (most young adults - early 20s) post on the company account, leading to messages with inconsistent tones. IPs and Designers: Many projects progressed slowly or without clear deadlines, and designer's received little or no income for their work. Designer's proposing other options or wishing to part ways with the company would be threatened with litigation and have their intellectual property taken from them. The designer of the Recipe Game went on "The People's Court" in an episode called "Refusing to Fold", where Judge Marilyn Milian ruled that Golden Bell had broken their contract and owed the designer money plus the rights to her game.
