David Bock

follow-up to Rocket Ranchers, START YOUR ROCKETS, is planned. Outside of NorthStar Games, he provides creative support for the tabletop industry with Jamie Madison (his girlfriend) and Brian Favia under the name, Madboc Design Studio. They've provided services to Son of Oak, Cephalofair, PickPocket, Red Raven, Pandasaurus, Incredible Dream, Grandpa Beck, and many others. He also works as a member of the Queer in Tabletop Guild and donates his time when possible to Lake County Democrats (Illinois). He got his start in the industry as a game reviewer as well as a marketing manager for Japanime Games and Arcane Wonders but this eventually led to him going off on his own as a freelancer, which is how MadBoc (originally called The Game Bocks) got started. David has also been a playtester for some titles, including Escape Plan and On Mars by Vital Lacerda, multiple games from Incredible Dream, the Castles of Burgundy Special Edition, and The Scythe Airship Expansion by Jamey Stegmaier. He went to Purdue for visual communication design and creative writing. David was an award-winning wedding photojournalist with the occasional celebrity client for over a decade before getting in games, which is why he started with product photos. David got into games playing historical miniatures, Blokus, Scrabble, Sequence, and Battletech as a child. This faded out of his life as he fell in love with film and video games until he decided to try a board game night to make some new friends. After playing Splendor and Castles of Burgundy, he was obsessed. He lives in the Chicago suburbs with his child and girlfriend.
