He then worked for The Avalon Hill Game Co, contributing to such classic games as 1830: Railways & Robber Barons and Titan. He has also worked as assistant designer for Sid Meier at MicroProse. In 2002, GameSpy named him the 8th most influential person in gaming. In 2008, he became the 12th inductee to the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Hall Of Fame. The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, founded in 1996, is a non-profit organization that promotes computer and video game entertainment. At Avalon Hill he was most proud of getting Avalon Hill to publish Titan. He brought a self-published copy in 1982 and introduced the game to the Avalon Hill staff who quickly recognized the game's excellence, saying in 1986 that "I think Titan is one of the ten best games of all time. If you have a group of gaming friends who like relatively simple games with tremendous opportunities for strategy and tactics, give it a try."
