Equipment mechanic by day and hobby board game designer by night. Back in 2018 I had discovered (and backed) Palm Island and I remember thinking about how great it was that you could play a game without a table and hoped other games would come out using that mechanic. About the same time I discovered the PNP world and the related contests on BoardGameGeek via Mike Heim's 1572: The Lost Expedition. That started the…

wheels churning and I set out to make my own game on ... Microsoft Word. As a technological dinosaur who only knew how to do tables and charts Word, that idea fell flat within an hour. My daughter Amanda, who was taking art, suggested I use her Illustrator program. She was very familiar with Manga studio, but she was just beginning how to use Illustrator. So I was off and running to enter my first PNP contest, the 2018 Solitaire PNP contest...sort of. I was badgering her with questions every few minutes that she couldn't answer. Constantly asking her to show me (once again) how to use the tools on illustrator. The next few months was filled tears and frustrations as I dealt with an antiquated computer that froze frequently and I fumbled through multiple layers of technology that was new to me. I swore several sacred oaths that I would "throw that stupid computer through the window if it froze up ONE MORE TIME". Finally, with Amanda's help, I completed my first PNP game. After making it through the first contest with Battle for the Carolinas, I was ready to take another shot at a contest. For the 2018 Mint Tin Contest, my daughter provided the cover art and multiple images throughout the game. Working together, I would give her an idea of what I wanted and she come back to me with the artwork. And this was the teamwork we incorporated with all the games from then on. I am very grateful to Amanda for all of her help. I like to joke around that I had the naive vision of "wiping out the competition, doing a Kickstarter, selling thousands of copies around the world and exchanging ideas with Matt Leacock at board game conventions. Now I've settled with the reality that there are exceedingly better games and designers in these competitions and I will be lucky if I get eight thumbs up". Though I have had mixed success, I enjoy the comraderie with those in the Print and Play community. Thanks to repeat playtesters, contest organizers, encouragers and those who went above and beyond for me (I know I have forgotten some): Sergi Labrador, Martin Gonzalvez, Mike Heim, Nick Schell, Nathan Van Pamelen, Iffix Santaph, Sumol Ananas, John Kean, Sir Thecos, Michael, Ben Morayta, Martin{Melbards}, François Bergeron, Trevor (TeamCritch), Lowell Kempf, Chris James (Stratus Games), Chris Hansen, Birgit Röscheisen, Istivano, Joachim Emilio Antonio, Flash001, Tomasz Miernowski and Daniel Young. Special thanks to: Eric Miller for his accessibility and willingness to always help me with my poorly written rules. Giampiero Randazzo for his huge effort he put into Mr. Fibonacci and the Great Art Commission of Pisa and assistance with other projects. UberDante for his playingcards edition of Rampage at the Rockport Tower and his being so accessible in answering all my question about playingcards. A tip of the hat for his hard work on Keepers of the Crystal River. I would also like to point out that a lot of what I have learned about Adobe Illustrator is from watching videos made by Satori Graphics. The videos are bite size pieces and chock full of information. With these videos, I went from being a technological dinosaur to a slightly knowledgeable technological dinosaur. https://www.youtube.com/c/SatoriGraphics/videos
