school reports were excellent in every respect - but was called up for military service himself towards the end and found himself posted to Ethiopia. His father was captured by the Japanese at the fall of Singapore in 1941 and spent over three years as a PoW. In 1945, they found out his father had survived and was coming home; it was too late for Trevor to resume his studies so he left school to work and support his Mother: he joined the Civil Service and stayed until retirement in the late 1980s. From that point, he spent more time on board games with the first officially-numbered prototype - Alaska Gold - dated July, 1988. The collection of over 70 prototypes and adaptations was donated to The Museum of Board Games in the Summer of 2022 by Trevor's children; the curator - designer Tony Boydell - has photographed, documented and catalogued the many designs; his blog contains a series of reviews and summations in advance of a more formal 'paper' on Trevor Warren's inspiring work. https://boardgamegeek.com/blogcategory/7854 Mr Warren passed in 2023, aged 97.
