Ted Rose
Ted Rose (August 13, 1940 – July 26, 2002) was an artist, graphic designer, mapmaker, and photographer. He was known for his watercolors featuring trains. He was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1962, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's of fine arts in painting with minors in printmaking and history. Vietnam. Rose spent a year in South Vietnam as a military policeman. He also worked for the Chicago & North Western as a night brakeman. In 1966, he settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 1989, he devoted himself full-time to painting. In 1993, he designed the logos and paint scheme for the Santa Fe Southern Railway. In 2001, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Northern New Mexico Advertising Federation. Ted Rose contributed 5 watercolors included in the US Postal Service's commemorative stamp collection entitled, "All Aboard! 20th Century American Trains." After becoming a full-time painter, he was awarded memberships in the American Watercolor Society in 1993 and the National Watercolor Society in 1999.
