Jacques-Louis David (August 30, 1748 - December 29, 1825) was a highly-influential French painter of the Neoclassical style. He is known for painting Napoleon Crossing the Alps, the title given to five versions of an equestrian oil portrait painted between 1801 and 1805. This painting has been used as cover artwork for several Napoleonic wargames.
