Thure de Thulstrup
Thure de Thulstrup (April 5, 1848 - June 9, 1930) was a Stockholm-born American artist who was the son of Sweden's Secretary of the Navy. Thulstrup served in the Swedish military as an artillery officer and in the French Foreign Legion where he fought in the Franco-Prussian War. His 1888 painting The Hornet's Nest has been used as the cover artwork for the games Shiloh: Grant Surprised and April's Harvest: The Battle of Shiloh, April 6 & 7, 1862. Versions of his painting Battle of Spottsylvania have been used as the cover art work for the games War Between The States 1861-1865 (Second Edition) and Battle Cry of Freedom. His painting "General Philip Henry Sheridan's Ride from Winchester" has been used as the cover artwork for the game Cedar Creek 1864. One of his illustrations was used as the cover artwork for the game Devil Takes All!: The Battle of Opequon Creek, 1864. His painting Hancock at Gettysburg was used as the cover artwork for the game The U.S. Civil War.
