Horace Vernet
Émile Jean-Horace Vernet (June 30, 1789 - January 17, 1863) was a French artist known for his paintings of battles, portraits, and Eastern culture. He was the Director of the French Academy in Rome from 1829 until 1834. His father was Carle Vernet and his grandfather Claude Joseph Vernet were also famous painters.
