Kaiju, War of the Yōkai 2027

KAIJU, War of the Yōkai is a strategy game for 1 to 5 players set in the fantasy world of the Kemushi Saga. In this cooperative game, players command the Great Cities, each with its own unique strengths and resources, working together to fight hosts of ravaging Yōkai, saving villages from their fury, and searching the wilderness in a desperate attempt to halt the Great Spirit’s mysterious Corruption and restore natural balance.

Each game is divided into 3 parts, called Chapters. During Chapters 1 and 2, players try to oppose the advance of the Yōkai hosts emerging from the Great Forest. Meanwhile, they perform Actions and use their resources to protect surviving Villages from destruction, send Crystal Bearers across spirit-haunted lands in search of the ancient Iwakura Stones, and collect spirit gifts.

At the start of Chapter 3, a powerful Kaiju – chosen at the start of the game – appears on the board. To win the game, players must confront the Kaiju, Bitoku spirits twisted and corrupted by humanity’s reckless ambition, and defeat them before time runs out and it succumbs to its Corruption.
