Designer's Description

NO GLUE NEEDED, NO STOPPING THE PRINT!

Organize your board games easily using the Box To Board Hex Tray System! Keep pieces separated to minimize setup time and prevent lost pieces. It is modular, magnetic, and stackable with MANY magnetic add-ons. AND all the magnets are concealed WITHOUT stopping the print, or using glue! Also no support needed. There are six base tray types, plus other components in this set!

I recommend reading about the whole system in depth in my blog post here:

I ALSO RECOMMEND WATCHING MY YOUTUBE VIDEO, WHICH EXPLAINS THE SYSTEM AND HAS INSTRUCTIONS!!

The trays are magnetic on all sides, so they join together for an organized play table. To make the magnet system easy to work with, I have placed an arrow on each tray, pointing to magnetic north, so you can confidently join them together. The trays are stackable as the bottom has a recess that the top slides into. The bottom of the tray is also curved, so you can get your pieces out easily. The trays are the base of the system, but here are the other components:

  • Player dock that magnetically attaches - on a plate in this profile
  • Double hex tray for rolling more dice or more tokens - on a plate in this profile
  • Square magnetic box for small components, and serves as a base for the square dice tower - on a plate in this profile
  • Magnetic lid for the hex trays - on a plate in this profile
  • Cap for the hex trays - on a plate in this profile
  • Magnetic shield for the hex trays - on a plate in this profile - the magnets for this piece need to be pressure fit and glued in.

These are separate print profiles you can see; they require different settings for printing, but are part of the system.

  • A hex dice tower that sits on top of a hex - make sure you use this profile as the angle at the top is finicky.
  • A square dice tower that sits on the top of the square box
  • Card stacker base tray and risers - make sure you use this profile as the angle at the top is finicky.
  • The Hex Magnetizer 3000 - Uses 75% Infill
  • The dice web hex is a separate upload on Maker World: Dice Web Hex
  • A lazy susan that holds the trays - this REQUIRES a metal lazy susan here is the link to the one I use: LAZY SUSAN other 4" ones “should” work. There appears to be some variation in the manufacturing of these, if they are a little too big just scale up the bottom piece a little bit to get it to fit, the ones I use measure 94mm. It also requires four screws this size: M3x4mm Thread Button Head
  • I AM WORKING ON AN ALL 3D PRINTED LAZYSUSAN RIGHT NOW, Hopefully released soon!!!

The trays and other system components use 12mm x 3mm round magnets - these are the ones I use. Each tray holds six magnets, and an arrow on the tray indicates polarity. PLEASE see the attached polarity instructions to install the magnets so the trays always go together correctly!

For all trays pictured, I used Polymaker Panachroma Matte Filament.

**PLEASE NOTE: the HEX tower and the card tray stacker and riser have a very specific print profile due to the very low-angle shelf at the top of the tower and the card stackers. If you are not using this profile, you need to get more support for the walls that create it, or you will get artifacts. Using the setting "DONT filter out small internal bridges" will fix it in Orca Slicer, but Bambu Studio does not have that option. I had to customize the profile to work with Bambu Studio, a good way to test it out is to use the cut feature and just print the top sloped part. The filament I use is Polymaker Panachroma Matte.

UPDATES:

12-24-25 - Hex Magnetizer 3000 Print Profile shown in the video has been added!

Instructions have been updated and expanded. NEW PDF below!

Compatible dice web hex uploaded as a separate listing on Makerworld : Dice Web Hex

12-25-25 - Added a new product, the hex tray funnel, to make it easier to put components back into the bag. It is an added plate in the Hex Tray Profile. Also added square box magnetic and standard lids, and changed the infill on the magnetic lids to 100% to give the tabs more strength.

Hex Tray Funnel:

12-28-25 - Added a new product at the request of quite a few people. It is a separate print profile. The Drink Hex Tray for holding your drinks! I added a drip groove to help with spills.

Hex Drink Tray:

01-01-26 - Added a new Makerworld product listing for Travel Clips! Makes traveling with your trays super easy, and it is PARAMETRIC

Here is a link to the listing: Hex Tray Travel Clips

01-07-26 -Added a new print profile for the magnetic lids, as some people were struggling to get the magnets in without breaking the tabs, you will need to use glue.

Modified the Hex Magnetizer 3000 Magnet Holder Tray to be looser so trays go in a little looser and not so tight. You only need to reprint that one part.

01-13-26 -Add a new component - Hex Toppers! A fully PARAMETRIC topper you can edit how you want, its a separate listing: Click Here

They sit on top of the tray and lock in. There are various options and types, and more on the way!

01-16-26 - An error was discovered in the card hex tray. The groove on the bottom was .3mm smaller than the others, and some people were having issues. The correct tray has been uploaded to the print profile.

01-28-26 - Added a new component - Hex Dividers. Now you can print single-bay trays and add dividers, allowing them to be used for multiple solutions. They are pressure fit, so they fit tightly. You can stack a tray on top to press it down. But they remove very easily! You can have fun with different color combos to! It has been added as a print profile to this listing. Short Video on them: YouTube Video

06/01/2026 - Changed license to Makerworld exclusive with adaptations allowed! You can now remix the model in accordance with the Makerworld license terms in the description at the top of this page. Let's make this the best hex tray system out there!

06/24/2026 - Added retainer clip print profile so you can attach and lock the trays together without magnets!

ALSO ADDED A NEW TRAY, THE ECONOMY TRAY

It is a separate Makerworld listing and works with the new retainer clips, so no magnets are needed. It prints MUCH faster, BUT it also works with the magnetic trays and components; it's the same tray, just without ribs or magnets. Go check it out!

UPDATE 07/09/26 Added New Parametric Lids and Pour Spout:
