Detroit Lions themed box for a double 12 Mexican Train set
This is a custom Detroit Lions themed container for storing a complete Mexican Train Domino set using a 91 piece double 12 set of tiles.
The Lid for this box uses four different colors of filament, and it will ONLY print properly on a machine capable of printing four colors, either a tool changer, or MMU type setup. The color components for the lid must be combined and aligned during slicing.
I made this as a simple storage solution for my fully printable game set, but since I modeled each of the necessary components of the set after sets that are commercially available, it should also function well for those who've built their Mexican Train sets from purchased items.
I went with 2mm thick walls on both the box and lid to minimize distortion under the weight of what turned out to be a heavy set that was printed with 100% infill.
The lid has a 1mm thick partition who's purpose is simply to hold my engines in place on the right side of the case during transport.
Both top and bottom of this case should print easily on most machines without any need for supports. Both pieces do have a rather large footprint on the build plate, so I recommend ensuring good bed adhesion for whatever material you opt to print this in. I printed the box portion on a Creality Ender 3 Pro on a textured PEI build plate in unbranded silver PLA, and lid with logo on a Flashforge Creator 5 Pro in PETG, simply because that's the material I currently have loaded on it.
Shortly, I'll be publishing the set of tiles I used for this stylized Detroit Lions Domino set, as well as the Detroit Lions logos that are glued into each of the tiles. Believe it or not, uploading the 182 pieces that make the 91 piece tile set is more daunting a task than printing the entire set... :)
