Ticket To Ride Game Organization Boxes and Mounts for Art Box
This project includes a collection of files I've found, created, and modified for organizing 5 Ticket To Ride games/expansions into a single box for space-saving reasons. The 5 games used in this set include:
- Ticket To Ride (base game using cards from 1910 expansion)
- Ticket To Ride: Europe
- Ticket To Ride: Nordic Countries
- Ticket To Ride: Map Collection 2 (India & Switzerland)
- Ticket To Ride: Map Collection 3 (Africa)
The box is a Hobby Lobby Artist Supply Box, which is used with many other board games organization inserts. When arranged as seen in the photo, the box can fit 5+ game boards, 8 colored boxes for trains, stations, and player tokens, 10 card boxes in 3 sizes, and a small box for extra trains. I've also included mounts so that you can attach the manuals to the top. Much of these prints were adapted from other sources so I will credit the authors where due.
For the boxes I tried to add some extra tolerance when measuring these dimensions to accommodate removing the boxes from the art box. The result was good, but as your art box or printer may vary I'd recommend trying some test prints to make sure everything will fit nice. I used "Simple customizable Box" to generate the box files. In case you need to adjust the boxes to fit your needs, I've included my settings below.
Note that card boxes come in 3 sizes: 16mm, 18mm, and 36mm. All 3 train decks use the 36mm boxes. The additional 36mm box is used by the 1910 expansion, which is too large for the smaller boxes. The remaining boxes are used by ticket cards and terrain cards. Each deck will fit in a 16mm box, except India, which requires an 18mm box. Unfortunately there isn't enough space to fit 6 uniform 18mm boxes, but you could print 4x 16mm and 2x 18mm if you want better alignment. Printing all 19 boxes took around 100 hours print time at 0.2mm layer height.
Another important note is that the front of the case won't close if the boxes are pushed right up against it. Because of this, I added some box liners to add some distance so that the box can close properly. Print (4) then set them against the front of the box.
The card holder isn't my design, but I scaled it to use the larger, 1910-style cards. The height also ensures that the boards don't move around during transport.
The height of the manual mounts are designed to meet the top of the card and token holders with a precision fit. They are attached with Gorilla Super Glue Gel. I created a few styles, though ultimately I chose the ones that I ended up printed first (bottom and angle-left). It's a tight fit so the manuals have to slide in one at a time, but since I don't refer to them often I pasted a cheat sheet with the basic rules. I won't post that here since I don't own the rights to the cover images used.
Finally, since the White and Purple trains that came from the Nordic Countries set didn't include station tokens, I found another stl and linked it here for completeness. Now any of the train colors can be played with any game! (Thankfully the Pink for Breast Cancer Research set came with stations and extra trains.)
I hope you enjoy this set as much as I enjoyed putting it together!
