Designer's Description

Version 2 with push to open feature now available - GO TO VERSION 2

This is a sci-fi-inspired, rugged, modern case with a slick magnetic flip-open trick built in. It’s great for holding small stuff and even better for showing off what you can do with magnets.

The real magic is in the mechanism: when you insert 4x 5×3mm magnets in the back with opposing polarity (so make sure to insert them the right was), the case pops open automatically when you pull the lever. It's super satisfying to watch and honestly kind fun to play with. If you're not into that feature, you can totally skip the magnets and use it as a regular case.

You’ll need 3x M3x20mm screws for the hinge. The lever’s designed to be tight at first but loosens up nicely after a few uses.

I printed mine in PLA Matte with 0.16mm Layer height for a clean finish, and I oriented the lever at 45° for extra strength along the layer lines.

If you're into cool prints, magnetic mechanisms, or just want a case that feels like it belongs in a sci-fi movie, give this one a shot. Have fun with it!
