John Daniel Poniske (born April 1955, in Springfield, Illinois) is a game designer and teacher who currently resides in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, midway between the Civil War battlefields of Gettysburg and Antietam. Contests that he has won at the World Boardgaming Championships include his victory in Afrika Korps in 1991 and We the People in 2004. John Daniel Poniske is the father of designer John Davis Poniske. Together they designed Devil Dogs: Belleau Wood 1918.
